Create of Enhance Your Summer Reading Program

Spring has SPRUNG and Summer is just around the corner. With Summer comes the last day of school, vacations, later bedtimes for the kids, and a host of other things to do.

During your summer planning don't forget to allow a few minutes a day or week for some fun reading. There's not a better way to excercise your mind while relaxing than sitting on the porch with a good book.

Face it, our kids can only play so much. There comes a time when they utter those words we all wish they'd never learned....."I'm BORED!".

So take time to go to the library and visit the Mystery section or point them in the direction of some great Presidential history.

No time for the library? Stop by one of our stores. We have a great selection of chapter books, history, mystery, science or zoology. Not to mention a host of other subjects and titles. Literally a couple hundred to choose from in all of our stores!

There's even some for Mom and Dad. Self help, Bible Study, sports, travel, a nice old Agatha Christy thriller is a great way to start off your summer!

So give us a visit.....

Onions, Potatoes, Carrots, Lettuce, Peas, OH MY!

I've taken advantage of the first beautiful weekend this year to work up some of my vegetable garden.

I was able to plant some "winter" veggies like onions, potatoes, lettuce, carrots, and peas.

When we are free from the threat of frost I can plant the rest. I hope to put tomatoes, pole beans, some corn, cantelope, peppers....and we'll see what else I can fit in there!

I got some great advice from this book....Vegetable Crops by Homer Thompson at Cornell University. This is a vintage resource, but it has very timely information.

Stop by my store and see more great resources from history, politics, childrens chapter books, college text books, and much much more!

New York! New York!

I've been to New York City twice. Once on business, once on a mission trip to help another church do some work to upkeep the building.

I enjoyed sight seeing and experiencing a little of what the locals experience every day.

When I saw this book Central Park Country A Tune Within Us I had to get it. The book is a Sierra Club production made in 1970. It is chock full of great photographs and historical information about Central Park.

Take a look at this book and the many others we have in our store...JKL Book Supply.

Thanks for reading our blog. Follow us and feel free to Twitter about us if you like what you read!

What do you Collect? Coins? Stamps? Antiques?

What do you collect?

I started collecting when our Father brought home a stamp collecting book and some stamps. This was in the early to mid 1970's. My brother and I began diligently gathering stamps. We never quite completed the book, but we had fun looking for unique and valuable stamps.

I eventually, as an adult, began collecting Coca Cola Memorabilia. I'm ashamed to admit it became some sort of illness where I would buy anything Coca Cola. New, Old, Ugly...it didn't really matter. If I didn't have it, I was going to get it to add to the collection. I turned our extra bedroom into a "Coke Room". I mean, floor to ceiling, wallpaper border, ceiling fan, bottles, cans, banks, trucks, you name it I had it. The closets were stuffed to the gills, the floors and every corner. Almost every inch of the walls covered with shelves, pictures, trays....

I then came to my senses...kind of. I sold half of my collection to make room for our kids. I still have the other half in storage. I'm not parting with it.

We also collected coins. We would have relatives send us foreign coins, we would look for buffalo nickels, silver dollars, wheat pennies, Canadian coins, anything unusual.

Speaking of coin collections....we just listed a couple of coin price guides on our eCrater Store.

Please stop by our eCrater store or out others. You can use the links at the top of the page.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME !!

It's time for Major League Baseball (MLB) Spring training and we are ready!

Our sons are signed up for their Little League team and are ready to go as well. This year they entered the age group for the league entitled "Major League". Since they are avid Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs fans AND they aspire to play ball in the Major Leagues when they grow up....they were very excited to be associated with anything termed Major League.

They've been practicing at home several times a week in the lot next to our house. They have their bats, new cleats, gloves, "official" baseballs and are very excited about their first real practice this weekend. Then games start the following couple of weeks.

To kick our store off for the Baseball Season, we just listed a very nice Cleveland Indians Jersey. It's new without the tags, and the main reason I'm selling it is, as you've read previously, the boys are Braves/Cubs fans...nothing Cleveland allowed in the house!

Here's a link...take a look. We have approximate measurements so you can ensure it fits before it gets to you. http://jklbooksupply.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=7122696

We also have other items at our stores. Start with the eCrater link above and start browsing.

Thanks for stopping by our blog. Feel free to leave comments if you like.

Home School Resources Are Here!

We have many home school resource books at our eCrater site as well as Ebay and Half.com.

I wanted to point out a few of them in case you are looking for some good books for your home school, or to enhance your child's private or public school lessons.

We homeschool our children and a specifically look for the old chapter books mainly because they were so well written. They had real stories with believable characters and most of them had a moral to the story.

Here are a few that we offer:

Living In Our World - Social Studies This is a great elementary level social studies book.

Widening Circles Elementary Reader Level 8 Perfect addition to any elementary reading program.

Flood Hazzard by Maurine H. Gee Chapter Book

Journeys Through Bookland Volume 5 http://jklbooksupply.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=7021913 Contains 27 classic stories.

Of course, you can browse all of our books (and a few other items) at all of our online stores. Just click the links at the top of this blog and you'll be sent directly there.

Thanks for looking. Check back often for more items and some semi-interesting stories. By the way, feel free to become a "follower"....
