Spring Has Sprung In North Carolina!

Welcome Spring! We're glad you're here...finally!

I've already planted my spring veggetable garden. Actually, my Father came down from Virginia and did it for me since that is one of his favorite things to do...Gardening.

He planted two varieties of lettuce, plenty of spring onions, potatoes, spinach, and he may have jumped the gun on this one... but also planted some squash and cucumbers.

Are you a garden enthusiast or just a hobby gardener like me? I try to grow some veggies to help provide some good food for my family. I'm not a huge vegetable eater but I do love some good romaine lettuce, baby spinach leaves in my salad.

One of them is Gifts From the Herb Garden by Emelie Tolley and Chris Meade (ISBN 0517575620). This is a great book if you're thinking of starting with herbs or if you're knowledgeable about herb gardens. There is some great information in this one.

We also have The Vegetable Expert by D.G. Hessayon (ISBN 0903505207). This is a guide that includes variety lists, planting guides, cooking hints and pest charts. A necessity for any level gardener.

Are you into Roses? We have The Ortho All About Roses book put out by the American Rose Society (ISBN 089714285). Includes expert growing techniques, information on 300 most highly rated roses, and new insights that would be helpful to any level Rose gardener.

No matter what region you are in, Spring is on its way! So, get plenty of information so you're well informed of the best practices and ways to garden. I try to be as organic as possible, trying not to use chemicals unless some pest enters my garden and I have to get rid of him in a hurry!

I create my own composte from kitchen scraps and yard waste, recycle newspaper for mulch, and do whatever I can to help the environment while I'm growing beautiful plants.
