Nope, I'm not a cook. My wife is the cook. She's a cook that doesn't really use a cookbook. She cooks from experience. Just like her Mother taught her. A little of this, a little of that to taste. My wife uses recipes and cookbooks for fancy desserts. But mostly she does what I call country cooking. Just good food, and all on the table at the same time!
Cookbooks are one of those items that I think are necessary for some folks to function in the kitchen and also not so necessary but are collector's items. Some people like to buy a good community or church cookbook just because it's a nice way to provide fund raising. Then there are those cookbooks that are collector's items, maybe from a famous chef or a movie star.
Functional cookbooks? There are plenty of those. They vary from the different types of foods...Mexican, Italian, American, Chinese, Japanese...you name it. Then there are dessert cookbooks...my personal fav.
I recently came across an interesting cookbook and had to buy it. It's now offered in my store for all to have a chance to purchase.
It's called California Sizzles Easy Recipes. This one was put out by the Junior League.
